I have always struggled with handbags due to my high sensitivity, and it's been a pain point for many years. Handbags can make such a statement, and I love all the options in theory, but in practical terms, not so much.
PROS
- Exceptionally lightweight
- Great day-to-day bag & sensory-friendly
- Sleek design, will work from day to night.
CONS
- Longchamp is expensive
- Difficult opening
Some Issues I have:
Touch:
Organization:
Carrying:
- Material is hard with no flow.
- The material feels terrible – the majority of nylon fall into this category including all Longchamp nylon bags.
- Access is difficult. I like a minimalist setup, soft to the touch and easy to find everything.
- Most leather bags weigh a lot before you put anything inside.
- Shoulder bags are annoying, and I constantly move them from one shoulder to another.
- Crossbody bags look great, and I like the idea of them, but they also annoy me, and I'm constantly moving them from shoulder to shoulder.
Backpacks are Better
I've realized through the years of trying different bags and materials that I only like and can tolerate backpacks, one or two Mz. Wallace crossbody bags or bum bags. I have cool ones for special occasions, but for day-to-day use, it's one of the above.
Mz. Wallace is always a great option as their bags literally weigh nothing, and they tend to be comfortable with a soft touch feel.
The Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir XS Leather Backpack is one of the most popular bags in recent years, with a sleek design and high-quality craftsmanship. I was intrigued to see if this Longchamp Backpack would be a good fit for me.
Especially since I detest all of their nylon bags, the fabric in the nylon bags feels awful to me, and I was amazed they were so popular. Another reason to feel like the odd one out – why do I hate the feel of the material and everyone else loves it?
I was not disappointed in the Longchamp backpack; it's an excellent choice for people with high sensitivity because it is high-quality leather. The leather is soft and supple, not triggering my increased sensitivity. I can wear this bag all day without any issues.
The backpack has small straps over your shoulders, which I would generally steer clear of because they will eventually dig in and hurt. Bizarrely no matter what I have in this bag when I wear it, even all day, I barely feel like I am carrying anything.
The Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir XS Leather Backpack
also an excellent choice for people who are looking for a stylish and functional backpack.
The backpack is large enough to fit all of my daily essentials, it has just one pocket on the inside, but to keep everything organized, I use pouches. Using pouches also allows you to change from bag to bag easily.
I did buy a small organizer on Amazon that fit it perfectly, but it added clutter to an otherwise minimalist bag, so I stopped using it. It was not expensive, so it's worth trying if you prefer more pockets and organization.
I recently spent five weeks touring Italy and used this backpack every day. That was intense use as I walked anywhere from 12k to 18k steps per day. I never felt like I was carrying anything; that is the highest recommendation I can give!
Of course, as with everything, there are some minor flaws. I prefer the interior material to have a satin feel, but it's still okay.
The straps you use over your shoulders are attached so that they also close the opening. It is an excellent anti-theft setup, but you have to pull it open whenever you need anything in a way that I find frustrating.
However, I can deal with that in the scheme of things since everything else works so well.
Despite its high price tag, the Longchamp Le Pliage Cuir Xs Leather Backpack is worth the investment.
If you're looking for a designer backpack that will stand the test of time, this is it!
Longchamp bags are known for their quality craftsmanship, and the Le Pliage backpack is no exception. With its sleek design and versatile style, this backpack is perfect for everyday use or special occasions.
Originally priced at $495 at the moment they are on sale at Nordstrom Rack from $229 to $289 depending on the color.
